PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Welcome to Term 3!
I hope you all enjoyed some quality time with family and friends during the winter break. We look forward to another term full of learning. We had several new students join us this term and I would like to send a very warm welcome to our new families - we look forward to working with you.
Busy term of events
Term 3 is always packed full of exciting learning events and we look forward to your participation where possible. Please be aware that staff are working hard to organise the many events, in addition to their core business of teaching and learning, so we appreciate your support in understanding and helping to complete the necessary permissions within the given timeframes. We will endeavour to provide as much lead time for completion as we can.
We look forward to seeing lots of you attend our NSW Public Education Week celebrations on Tuesday 5 August. Parents are welcome to attend the various activities during the day. A reminder that donations are now open for the ‘Ignite-a-thon' activity challenge (https://chuffed.org/project/ehps-ignite-a-thon-2025). Thank you to parents, carers, family and friends that have already made donations as we work towards raising funds for our school.
NAPLAN results
NAPLAN individual student reports for 2025 were distributed to parents and carers of Year 3 and 5 students last week. We encourage you to engage in conversations with your child about their achievements. However, it is important to remember that NAPLAN is just one measure of your child’s learning and progress. Preliminary school data highlights our students’ achievements across proficiency levels – of which we are very proud. Once we have access to more detailed data in each learning area, we will share an analysis of strengths and areas we can focus on for growth.
Staff professional learning
We regularly remind our students that we are all learners and that this it is something that we continue to do...even as adults! Our amazing team of teachers are demonstrating their commitment to learning through our professional learning focus on High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), with a deep dive into effective differentiation of programs and extending our learners in mathematics. Teachers have been working together in their teams on Spirals of Inquiry as part of this professional learning, collaboratively analysing student data, planning and trialling new strategies. We look forward to sharing more about this focus throughout the semester.
Semester 1 academic reports feedback
We are committed to improving our communication with parents and carers. As part of this effort, we would like to hear your thoughts on our academic reports in Semester 1. Your feedback will help us understand how well these reports meet your needs as parents/carers and support your child’s learning journey.
Thank you for taking a moment to complete this short feedback survey: https://forms.office.com/r/ttgXRzdq9D
Peer Support program
I felt very proud of our Stage 3 students for their leadership of this week’s Peer Support program. It was the first session for the term and our senior students did an amazing job of leading small groups of students from across the school in an introduction to the program. Weekly sessions throughout Term 3 will help to build connections across the school while addressing a range of social and emotional literacy skills. Thank you to the Stage 3 teaching team for coordinating this important program.

Athletics Carnival
Unfortunately our athletics carnival had to be cancelled yesterday due to the bad weather. The carnival will now be held on Friday 8 August. Information will be sent home about this today via School Bytes. We would appreciate it if you could respond to the permission note as soon as possible, so we have the information we need to plan for the new date.

FOCUS ON LEARNING - STAGE 2
Hands on learning in mathematics
Students have enjoyed hands-on learning with nets and pentominoes, exploring their properties and relationships through interactive activities. They have developed their sketching skills in mathematics, creating two-dimensional representations of three-dimensional shapes, enhancing their understanding of geometry and spatial reasoning.

Character development in English
Students have started shared reading of ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio. As part of their response, students have explored sociography to explore character relationships and dynamics within the story. This has required students to analyse how characters interact, their motivations and the impact of their relationships on the plot, fostering a deeper understanding of narrative structure and character development.

Future selves
In keeping with next week’s Education Week theme, members of 4P have been encouraged to ignite their potential by envisioning themselves in the future, setting ambitious goals and exploring the pathways to achieve them. A series of reflective activities and discussions focused on students taking charge of their aspirations and empowering them in shaping their own success.

RYDE PSSA FACILITIES

Ryde Zone PSSA uses a number of council sporting facilities in Ryde to run our sporting competitions, carnivals and other events.
From 2026, the Meadowbank Netball courts will be closing and new facilities opening in West Ryde. Students and staff are looking forward to using the new, high quality courts.
We have recently become aware that there is not enough funding to seal all the courts and that 4 of them will be grass courts. Our local Member of Parliament is running a petition seeking funding for all courts to be sealed.
Please support the Ryde PSSA by signing this petition. As users of the courts, we will benefit from all courts being sealed. Please ask your friends and family to sign the petition as well. Save Netball Championships in Ryde
Thank you Ryde Zone PSSA
